I’m happy to announce that my new album Ideas of Space will be released on April 22, 2022, on my newly launched record label SSURROUNDSS.
This week saw the release of the first single and title track, alongside a video I directed which you can watch below.
Before I continue – here is a link to PRE-ORDER THE ALBUM. This record looks and sounds amazing, and each aspect was put together with great care. The record features collaborations from Austin Tufts, Joseph Shabason, Ouri, and my brother Eliot Roby. The graphic design was done by Hugo Bernier and the inner sleeve features a collage of photos, notes, and lyrics I made. The limited edition vinyls are going rather quickly, so order now if you want one :)
The record will also be co-released by PLANCHA in Japan. There will be a special Japanese import CD limited to 300 copies.
I have so many stories to share about the process of making this album, the decision to start my own label, the insane 3 day shoot for the video… All in due time. For now I’ll leave you with a little backstory on the album cover.
The album cover was shot by Hugo Bernier in the final moments of filming the Ideas of Space video. We were on the third day of shooting on location around the Eastern Townships in Quebec. The last day was the most intense, and by that point we had been shooting for 9 or 10 hours. Here I was in the middle of this stone circle, dressed in an outfit that made me feel so powerful. There was some serious energy that followed me throughout the three day shoot, and you can see it here– I’m glowing.
Honestly I forgot we shot those photos. I didn’t get that roll of film developed for a month or so, and in that time we’d done a whole seperate shoot for the album cover. When I did eventually see this photo, I immediately knew it was the one. Somehow it harnessed all of the energy and emotion that went into making this record. And that energy came from my mind, my body. That’s what I see when I look at this image, and it’s a beautiful reminder.
Thank you for reading and for listening! Go check out the video and share the song with someone you love. I’ll look forward to sharing more music and more words about the record with you.
Until next time!
